Amir Sitafalwalla, a physician from Brooklyn, was arrested for allegedly molesting a male patient – this occurred only a few months following an initial arrest for a strikingly similar incident.
The most recent allegations originate from an August 14, 2024 appointment at Modern MD in Woodhaven, Queens. At this location Sitafalwalla is accused of fondling a male patient when it should have been a typical medical exam. Prosecutors report he was arrested and then later released after he posted $10,000 bail. The New York Police Department and Queens District Attorney’s Office are determining whether more victims may be out there.
In January 2023, he was arrested earlier for allegedly fondling a 25-year-old man at the same clinic during a COVID-19 test. He is accused of touching the patient’s inner thigh and then groping his genitalia. According to court filings, he also made inappropriate sexual remarks about the man’s genitals.
In the earlier case, Dr Sitafalwalla was released without bail, which caused concern from advocates and members of the public. This second arrest has increased scrutiny around his conduct – which has also raised questions about how many patients may have been silently harmed.
A licensed physician with over twenty years of practice, Dr. Sitafalwalla obtained a degree from J.J.M. Medical College. He also worked across various locations, like Valley Stream and Brooklyn – he is connected with Long Island Community Hospital and has specialties in emergency and internal medicine.
Right now officials urge any other patients who may have experienced inappropriate conduct to step forward. The NYPD and Queens District Attorney’s Office continue their investigation.
